This family restaurant is located in Girona, Spain, which has been chosen twice by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants as the best restaurant in the world, and since 2009 it has 3 Michelin stars. In 2007, Joan Roca, the eldest of the brothers, who had previously studied at Escola d’Hosteleria and later became one of its teachers, opened El Celler de Can Roca, a traditional Catalan cuisine + the outstanding creativity they’ve added to their dishes. Josep, one of the brothers in the restaurant, is the sommelier and the pastry chef Jordi, who joins them later on. We can say that they form a solid, strong team with the chef, sommelier, and the pastry chef altogether.

Fun fact: if you sit down at your table in the dining room of El Celler de Can Roca and you will see three rocks as the centerpiece. Each represents one of the brothers, whose surname translates as ‘rock’ from the Spanish.

Also, the brothers came to Turkey on 3 September 2015, inspired by the Turkish cuisine they’ve created an amazingly rich menu which they have served to more than a hundred people at Salt Galata’s Neolokal restaurant.

If you want to watch a documentary about these guys or particularly one of them: Part 3 of Netflix’s Chef’s Table is all about Jordi Roca. This pastry chef is not what we know, I strongly advise you to watch the brother who adds a new meaning to desserts.

• • Josep says: “It’s about the dining room and reception team and the attitude in the kitchen, which is completely committed to the idea of looking after people. In the kitchen, we say that to cook is to care, and in the dining room, to serve is to love.”
